💼 Work Experience

Visiting PhD Student

2026 | KU Leuven

Developed systems for 3D facial understanding aimed at medical and clinical applications. Worked on end-to-end pipelines for analyzing 3D facial data, combining computer vision, geometry, and machine learning to extract clinically meaningful facial features. Collaborated in an interdisciplinary research environment to translate advanced research into practical medical tools.

Visiting PhD Student

2025 | Stanford University

Developed a benchmark for computer vision models trained on crowdsourced datasets with extreme variability, enabling robust evaluation in real-world conditions. Fine-tuned MedGemma-27B for diagnostic captioning of laryngeal lesions, advancing clinical decision support applications. Conducted research on video understanding of surgical procedures using vision-language models (VLMs) to improve procedural recognition and context-aware analysis.

AI Research Engineer

2024-2025 | IRCCS Cà Granda - Policlinico di Milano

Supporting the diagnosis of neurodegenerative diseases using AI/ML techniques, particularly focused on Geometric Deep Learning for 3D data (MRI, fMRI, facial reconstructions, etc.).

Software Developer

2021-2023 | DGLEN SRL

Developed web applications using React and Firebase/Google backend, mobile applications with React Native, and designed SQL databases on Google Cloud. Realized https://garzone.store used by 10000+ italian small retail companies.
